A Colorado Springs Thanksgiving

This year we decided to head on over to Colorado Springs to be with my sister Adrianne and her family for Thanksgiving!! It was so much fun. It was by far the smallest Thanksgiving Kevin and I have ever been to, but the food was amazing, company was fun, and the day was perfect and relaxing to say the least!

We left Wed morning around 10:30 am. Its about a 9 hour drive. Mia was a champ the first 5 or 6 hours. She got restless after a while and really wanted to get out. We tried getting out a few times on the way and she really only slept for 2 hours the whole time. But she really was good and we got lucky!

The weather was perfect, the drive was beautiful, and our car ran well too. We packed a cooler full of food to eat along the way so we wouldn't have to stop and eat fast food. That was nice.

The next day was Thanksgiving. Adrianne made homemade rolls, a green bean casserole, a pumpkin and apple pie, and a sweet potato souffle. Mike did the gravy and turkey. I did the deviled eggs and mashed potatoes which Kevin helped with as well. It was a wonderful meal! I made some cute little name tags to put on the table. We used her china dishes and we also had some yummy drink that Adrianne made too- hey, I want that recipe! :)

While we were cooking, the boys all went out and rode Isaac's mini motorcycle  Dont worry, Kevin did it too. Hahah.

After dinner, we all headed to Laila's Grave. It was a sad, but good experience to see it. The grave is beautiful and there are a few other little babies buried right next to her now. It's been 16 months since she has passed but it seems just like yesterday. She is still very much a part of her family. The boys talk about her non stop- its cute and really sweet! They kept telling me about all the times she would kick her legs in the bath tub and how she loved to be played with.

The next day was Friday. We decided to do adrianne's hair that day! We dyed it brown! We also put up Christmas decorations and relaxed. We dyed her eyebrows, and she was in shock. Needless to say, we HAD to get them waxed the next day... hehehe. She looks amazing though, and she let me style her hair and do her makeup on two of the days. So fun to pamper her!

We also decorated for Christmas, and that was a lot of fun. Made me super excited to decorate our place!

On Saturday, Kevin and I decided we wanted to explore Colorado Springs. It's such a beautiful little town. We would love to someday maybe live there. Everything is there. Shopping, Nature, Homes... I love everything about it. Adrianne had things to do at home, and Mike was making homemade cheese (Which is really cool actually!!) so Kev and Mia and I went and ventured off on our own. We first went to Garden of the Gods. It's such a beautiful place!! It was PERFECT Weather. Infact, kinda warm.

We ended the night doing frozen yogurt with the fam and got in the hot tub (they keep it at 99 degrees so Mia was able to come in too!)

We left to come home the next day, and it was truly fabulous. We loved every minute of it. Thank you Mike and Adrianne for letting us crash your home and thanksgiving! We love all of you so much and miss you already.

dear miagirl,

Dear Mia,

The last time I wrote on here was the day before you were born! I didn't think you would be born two weeks early, but I guess it was good I got the hospital bag packed that night! :)

I just want you to know how happy you make me. I always wanted to be a mommy- but now I know how amazing and rewarding being a mommy is. It truly is the best thing in the world! I remember the minute you came out and feeling so relieved that you had made here here safe. It was a beautiful moment that I will never forget.

Sometimes, when you are sleeping, I go in your room and stare at you in awe. You are so beautiful! You smile alot in your sleep- so that makes me laugh.

You have changed so much over the last 10 months of your life. You have gone from sleeping all day to sitting up, to crawling, to standing! From tiny little thing to such a big girl who always is smiling, clapping her hands, laughing, and waving. I never thought a baby would make your dad and I so happy, but we lay up every single night laughing about things you did through out the day. We talk about you and your future and how much you have grown. We are so grateful for you and love you so much.

Your dad has you wrapped around his finger. I knew he would. He doesn't like to let you cry or be sad, and he always goes in your room to check on you when he gets home from work before he even gives me a kiss! He gets up with you in the morning and lets you play with him while he makes breakfast for us every day. You are lucky to have a daddy who cares so much about you.

I have so many things I love about you. I love when I go to get you up in the morning or after a nap that you smile from ear to ear and wave at me. It always makes me smile. I love your long eyelashes, and your cute two bottom teeth. I love that you sing, and that you can give kisses. Your kisses are the BEST kisses! Every night at bedtime before I put you down, I sing to you and snuggle you. While I do that, you take your hand and put it on my face and rub my nose. Its my favorite thing in the world.

Now, we are pregnant with another baby and you are going to be a big sister! Your daddy and I wanted you two to be close so you would always have a best friend to play with. We are excited to see how you interact with the new baby and know you will love the baby just as much as you love us. You will be the prefect big sister- especially since you are always so happy!

Mia, thanks for coming into our lives. You will forever be my baby girl. I will love you forever, and like you for always.. as long as I'm living (and even after) my baby you'll be.

Love,

Mommy
